The City of Chandler Cultural Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Performing Arts Program Manager. The position is a full time, exempt position with benefits, working general office hours with some evening and weekend work.
Essential Functions
1. Supervises and oversees the daily operations of the assigned area by setting goals and objectives; manages schedules and work priorities; monitors and evaluates performance; facilitates access to resources and training; provides guidance and addresses issues; conducts interviews and makes hiring decisions.
2. Identifies community arts programs needs and interests; assists in developing goals and strategies for arts programming; curates varied annual presented season of various local, national and international touring performances and community engagement programs.
3. Serves as project manager for the Chandler Center for the Arts for the planning, organizing, and implementation of the presented season and community engagement programs. Coordinates with Center staff as well as internal and external partners to plan and execute a range of events within the Center's three theater spaces and satellite/temporary programs in the community. Collaborates with marketing on promotions, public relations, and development. Researches and supports grants for programmatic initiatives.
4. Represents the Center within local, regional, and national professional organizations; cultivates professional contacts with artists, agents, managers, co-promoters, and peer venues; develops relationships with local/regional community and arts organizations to create innovative collaborative opportunities.
5. Coordinates all aspects of contract management including preparing budgets and offer letters, negotiating deal terms, redlining contracts, generating settlement documentation, and managing payments.
6. Supervises staff to facilitate rental and community engagement programs for the Center.
7. Responds to and resolves feedback related to community involvement.
8. Works closely with the Arts Center Assistant Manager to execute strategic plans and goals for performing arts and cultural development; develops and presents event budgets and related program recommendations to Chandler Cultural Foundation Board.
Minimum qualifications
• A Bachelor's Degree in Arts Administration, Theatre or related field; and
• 4 years of programming or community engagement for a performing arts center and/or experience with artist booking and negotiation, concert production, and contract administration; and
• A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
