Description: Position Description

  • Provide guidance, consulting, and problem resolution for all human resources related issues.
  • Coach and advise managers in orientation,performance management, employee engagement,retention, career development, and other HR relatedmatters.
  • Consult with and advise managers and employees onemployee relations matters, including any HUCTWrelated issues.

    Work closely with managers and employees tomitigate human resources risks to the University.
  • Partner with FAS HR Talent Acquisition Consultants toprovide recruitment, selection and hiring actions andactivities for staff.Advise, interpret, and communicate regarding all FASHR and HHR policies, practices, and processes.
  • Collaborate with managers to diagnose organizationaldesign, staff development and training needs.
  • Manage salary administration and internal equity fornew hires, reclassifications and reorganizations.
  • Manage compensation activities, including conductingequity reviews for staff.
  • Support the implementation of the annual meritincrease and bonus process.
  • Arrange for and/or provide HR related training toclients/staff.
  • Educate managers and supervisors on theirobligations under the contract and how to workcooperatively with union representatives. Guidemanagers on workplace policies, procedures, anddecisions to ensure compliance with the collectivebargaining agreement. In partnership with the Office of Labor and Employee Relations, serve as point ofcontact for union representatives and employeesregarding contract interpretation, grievances, andother labor-related matters.
  • Partner with OGC to ensure compliance within theUniversity and FAS HR policies, procedures,requirements, and applicable legal regulations.
  • May manage a team.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 8 years' relevant HR experience


Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS applications and analytics.
  • Advanced knowledge of employment law and HR policies and practices; business acumen.
  • Demonstrated experience with the administration of bargaining unit policies and procedures.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively with others and leading others in working together; demonstrated commitment to teamwork and positive collaboration to accomplish goals.
  • Experience in a multi-discipline Human Resource environment including expertise in employee relations, recruitment and retention, training, compensation, performance management, and organizational development.
  • Demonstrated abilities as a creative problem-solver.
  • Able to address problems in a collaborative manner.
  • Strong consultative skills; at ease in both formal and informal team leadership as well as team member roles.
  • Strong employee relations and staffing experience (working in a Union environment a plus).
  • Track record of strong business judgment, connecting human resources with school goals/mission.
  • High degree of credibility and integrity.
  • Strong communication skills (writing, oral and listening).
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to analyze a situation, formulate responses and take appropriate action.
  • Project management expertise preferred with demonstrated ability to drive programs/projects to completion.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
  • SHRM certification or equivalent certification desirable.


Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an office setting. Meetings will require movement between campus buildings.
