This role is responsible for the administrative leadership for the implantation of the curriculum. In this role he/she will be responsible for the operationalizing of learning environment and have oversight of the curriculum throughout the four years of medical school. The Director reports to Associate Dean for Medical Education, while working closely with the Course/Clerkship Directors and managing and developing all clerkship and curriculum coordinators. There will be strong working relationships and partnerships with the Office of Student Affairs, Registrar's Office, Student Health, clinical skills course
Daily Operations
Manage all clerkship/curriculum coordinators and site managers and coordinators.
Facilitate and provide staff development for clerkship, curriculum and site coordinators and curriculum administration.
Manage logistical aspects of the curriculum; prepare and launch the curriculum for each academic year, develop and ensure processes and procedures are in place and being followed by faculty and staff
Provide oversight for curriculum committee's work and priorities.
Collaborate with other members of the curriculum team to support clinical sites training, consistency in assessment, and curriculum delivery.
Collaborate with Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs to assist with curriculum implementation at clinical sites.
Identify areas of curriculum delivery program improvement and make recommendations on ways to improve curriculum programing and implementation.
Support the curriculum team in developing and implementing a process of curriculum Continuous Quality Improvement.
Develop and implement work processes to achieve program efficiency and deliver curriculum services effectively.
Provide high-level administrative support to the curriculum team to help develop, implement, and enforce policies to ensure all compliance and regulations are being met.
Facilitate program efficiency by supporting all Associate and Assistant Deans for Medical Education and Curriculum and Course/Clerkship Directors of Curriculum in tasks relating to the curriculum presentations, meetings, and additional duties as assigned.
Assist with creating reports, performing data analysis related to outcomes of curriculum.
Reviews, prioritizes, and makes appropriate notations on incoming mail for the Office of Medical Education
Develops itineraries and plans and organizes travel for the Associate Dean for Medical Education
Oversees administrative staff support to assigned committees.
Required Skills
Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and to supervise and direct activities of others.
Ability to set priorities and assume responsibility for seeing that projects are completed in a timely manner. Independent interpretation of policies and procedures and decision-making abilities are necessary.
Knowledge of the educational organizational structure.
Ability to gather and disseminate information and requires the ability to relate effectively to individuals at all levels.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelors' degree in Education required. Master's degree in Education is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work with individuals in the academic community
3-4+ years' experience in medical education, academic affairs, higher education, curriculum, or related field preferred
Knowledgeable about the university and ideally the workings of the school of Medicine, including the people and programs supporting the robust academic portfolio.
