Job Summary: To serve as a lab instructor for the Paramedicine degreeprogram. Responsible for assisting the lead instructor incoordinating and facilitating the labs necessary to educate Paramedicine students.
Essential Job Functions:
Participates in the instruction of EMT and Paramedic lab courses. Function under the direction of the Paramedicine Program Director. Prepare lab for classes, help dismantle and clean up after lab activities. Demonstrates the safe and proper use of lab equipment and hazardous or bio hazardous materials. Provide leadership and positive role modeling for students. Attend annual program meeting. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma
Work Experience:
Minimum of one year field experience with an EMS agency at license level to be taught Current National Registry of EMTs certification as an EMT or Paramedic Current Oklahoma EMT or Paramedic license AHA BLS Provider (or equivalent training approved by the paramedicine program) AHA ACLS Provider (paramedic only) (or equivalent training approved by the paramedicine program) AHA PALS/PEPP Provider (paramedic only) (or equivalent training approved by the paramedicine program)Willing to work flexible hours to meet program goals and student educational/learning needs.
Preferred Work Experience:
Previous teaching experience or field training. Experience in education technology, simulation technology, or related area. Familiarity with Emergency MedicalResponder, Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician,and Paramedic registry skill and practices
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to educate and assist students with learning of the various skills necessary for Paramedicine education. Ability to evaluate student performance. Ability to conduct formative and summative assessment of student learning. Ability to create and maintain a positive learning environment, displaying and requiring professionalism in all classroom activities. Ability to work collaboratively with EMS agency representatives on meeting program goals and learning outcomes. Ability to adapt and apply laboratory methods, practices and techniques. Ability to follow health and safety procedures and regulations. Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
Communication skills - Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with clear, grammatically correct English. Requires interaction with supervisors, colleagues, students, using tact, discretion, and independent judgment. Computer skills - Must be demonstrably proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as e-mail and Internet. Passion for assisting customers and representing the OSU-OKC and OSU brand with positivity and professionalism. Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior.

Office and laboratory environment Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends in an often times busy and noisy environment. Work will be performed in an office and classroom environment with a significant amount of public contact, in person, by telephone and via email.
Physical Requirements:
Instructor will perform duties inside structures or in laboratory simulations. Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting up to 75 lbs. unassisted, bending, standing, climbing or walking. Any items weighting more than 45 lbs. must be team lifted per OSU safety regulations. Must be able to handle and safely dispose of solutions and any hazardous materials wearing appropriate PPE.
