We are seeking a research technician to support research projects in the UNC Hemophilia Treatment Center and Blood Research Center. This position will support both ongoing and future initiatives, including grant funded projects. Current portfolio includes projects aimed at improving our understanding of women and girls with bleeding disorders. We are seeking a motivated individual who will be responsible for bench work in a research laboratory. Candidates should at minimum have the abilities to follow instructions through a standard work process; perform routine or repetitious tasks; check work for accuracy before completion of tasks; support scientific research by assisting in experiments, procedures, and/or tests; perform work that requires mental concentration, visual attention and extensive manipulative skills to comply with research protocol; identify and report variations or discrepancies in data; organize and prepare data for analyses; provide preliminary summary of experiments, procedures and tests; and accurately calculate and mix chemicals and prepare working buffers. Preferred candidates would have additional experience with performing basic statistical analyses; flow cytometry; previous biological research in a structured laboratory environment and experimental procedures. Maintaining laboratory environmental hygiene, and laboratory ordering.
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
-Competency with biostatistical software (R, STATA)
-Experience building & maintaining projects in RedCap
-Prior experience working as part of a research lab
-Experience Reporting Outcomes as it relates to laboratory protocols
-Experience with mixed method techniques
-General lab experience preferred
