This Senior Mechanical Engineer opportunity is a part of the Materials and Structural Analysis Semiconductor Business Unit located in Hillsboro, OR. We focus on providing physical failure analysis and metrology solutions to the semiconductor market to help our customers develop and ramp to production their most advanced integrated circuits. Our Hillsboro site produces world class electron microscope systems and core technology used by scientists and engineers to drive innovation around the globe. Our products have been instrumental in Nobel prize winning discoveries, have been highlighted by National Geographic, and were awarded Gold at the Edison awards. Responsibilities:
Lead the hardware development of highly customized, multi-million dollar microscopes with sub-nanometer resolution by working closely with, and learning from, world class Marketing, Project Management, Operations, suppliers, and engineers and scientists of a diverse set of backgrounds.
Mechanical development from requirements to production release with concept layout, detailed design, analysis and testing as appropriate with a strong emphasis on precision design.
Make and meet project cost, quality and schedule work you're doing
Provide mechanical scoping and guidance for new projects, NSR's and potential portfolio changes
Support release to production
Lead improvements in tools, processes and standard methodologies
Provide innovative solutions to design challenges
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience leading the development of complex capital, and/or metrology, equipment. Advanced degrees highly desired and may substitute for experience.
Precision machine design proficiency, design for stiffness, controlling degrees of freedom, error budgeting, sensor selection, material selection, GD&T, design for manufacturability
Experience with Traditional and additive manufacturing methods and joining techniques (welding, brazing, ...)
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters or PhD in Physics, Mechanical, Systems or Electrical Engineering
Experience in semiconductor capital equipment development
Successful track record leading multi-functional technical teams
Experience with metrology, motion systems, machine vision, vacuum systems, ceramics, high voltage, wafer handling, automation and/or charged particle systems.
