Position Overview:



As a key member of Motiva's Supply Chain team, the Category Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing the company's operational, growth, and sustainability goals. This role is responsible for managing key supply chain categories-engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction-within a $1 billion annual portfolio. The Category Manager will provide supply chain leadership through in-depth market analysis, strategic planning, and stakeholder management. This individual will drive commercial excellence, foster collaboration, and champion continuous improvement to optimize third-party expenses, directly contributing to production efficiency and growth initiatives.



Responsibilities:





Category Management


  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction categories.


  • Optimize sourcing strategies on global, regional, and local levels to enhance value, service levels, and risk mitigation.


  • Utilize extensive experience in category management, supplier rationalization, and commercial deal-making to drive results.






Value & Cost Optimization


  • Identify and implement value chain improvements to maximize cost efficiency.


  • Leverage centrally managed spending across Saudi Aramco, Motiva's plants, and departments.


  • Track progress and ensure alignment with key performance objectives.






Supplier Relationships


  • Maintain a competitive edge by leveraging market expertise and cultivating strong supplier relationships.


  • Lead supplier performance management initiatives with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent service delivery.






Data-Driven Decision-Making


  • Utilize data analytics to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement in supply chain operations.


  • Enhance operational performance metrics and spend analytics to ensure transparency and effectiveness.




Negotiation & Conflict Resolution


  • Lead negotiations with suppliers, contractors, and partners to secure favorable terms.


  • Manage supplier approval processes and handle escalations as needed.






Business Case Development & Change Management


  • Develop and present business cases with clear return-on-investment models.


  • Lead the implementation of change management programs to drive adoption of new processes.





Experience and Qualifications:




Required Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.


  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, materials management, or a related area.


  • Proven expertise in sourcing, vendor management, contract negotiations, supply risk management, and project management.


  • In-depth knowledge of Engineering, Construction, Fabrication, Equipment, and Materials categories.


  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with a track record of delivering results in a manufacturing environment.


  • Solid business acumen with an understanding of downstream oil and gas finance, operations, accounting, and organizational behavior.


  • Working knowledge of legal frameworks such as contract terms, the Uniform Commercial Code, and contracting for operations and capital projects.


  • Effective stakeholder management experience.





Preferred Education and Experience:



  • 10 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, materials management, or a related area.


  • Strong understanding of SCM ERP/MRP systems; experience with Ariba or SAP preferred.


  • Supply chain experience supporting asset operations and/or major capital project development.


  • Leadership experience and coaching capabilities.


  • Previous experience in the oil and gas industry.
