Spanish Interpreter at Nemours in Wilmington, Delaware

Job Description:

Nemours is seeking a 30 hour per week Spanish Interpreter for in-person medical interpretation in the hospital-based clinics and units. Medical experience required as well as completion of Bridging the Gap or equivalent Interpreter Training program as well as successful completion of the Language Proficiency exam. NCBMI certification preferred but not required.

Provide Spanish interpretation for patients and hospital staff using protocols and practice standards for medical Interpreters.

Ability to convert a spoken message into its equivalent without adding, omitting, or changing the meaning in the target language.

Speak, read and write Spanish and English fluently.

Identify linguistic and cultural barriers to effective and clear communication for customers who are Limited English Proficient and whose primary language is not English.

Possesses or is seeking a National Certification for medical interpreters.

Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Children's Hospital.

Assist in the process of early identification of patients who will need interpreter services.

When certified, interpreter should complete continuing education to maintain their certification credentials.
