Position Summary: The Director of Catering and Sales at Villanova Dining Services is a pivotal leadership position responsible for driving revenue growth and elevating the catering experience across campus, including the Villanova University Catering Program. This role involves overseeing the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of diverse catering events, ensuring that each aligns with our commitment to excellence, sustainability, and community engagement.

In this dynamic position, you will lead the development and implementation of the Cabrini Campus Catering department, ensuring all operations reflect Villanova Dining Services’ mission and core values: Safety/Sanitation, Friendly Courteous Service, and Excellence. Your leadership will foster a culture of exceptional service and teamwork within the catering team. Key responsibilities include driving revenue through innovative event planning, managing personnel while adhering to financial accountability and food safety compliance, and establishing service standards that exceed guest expectations. Additionally, you will champion sustainability practices by sourcing local ingredients, minimizing waste, and implementing eco-friendly initiatives that align with Villanova’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

Active engagement with local associations and community partners will be essential to promote catering services and enhance Villanova’s presence in the community. You will cultivate a high-performing catering team through mentorship and training, fostering an environment of collaboration and excellence. Flexibility in scheduling is required to adapt to the demands of catering contracts and events, while also assuming leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Sales Growth: Drive revenue growth by developing and implementing strategies to enhance sales for large-scale events across campus, ensuring that our catering services meet the diverse needs of clients.
  • Event Oversight: Provide leadership and oversight in the planning, coordination, staffing, and execution of catering events, ensuring high-quality service delivery that aligns with Villanova Dining Services’ standards.
  • Cabrini Campus Catering Development: Play a pivotal role in the establishment and growth of the Cabrini Campus Catering department, collaborating with team members to create processes and standards that enhance our offerings.
  • Alignment with Values: Ensure that all operations reflect the mission and values of Villanova Dining Services, fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
  • Personnel Management: Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of catering staff, ensuring a commitment to excellence and professionalism.
  • Financial Responsibility: Manage financial aspects, including budgeting and cost control, to optimize profitability while maintaining quality standards.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols, conducting regular training and audits to maintain compliance.
  • Inventory and Ordering: Collaborate with the Executive Chef of Catering to oversee the ordering and management of food, supplies, and beverages for all events, ensuring efficient inventory practices.
  • Service Standards and Training: Establish and implement service standards and policies. Assist in the training of all Villanova Dining Services Catering Staff, including RAMP training and certifications.
  • Community Engagement: Actively engage with local associations and networking opportunities to build relationships and promote our catering services within the community.
  • Additional Duties: Assist with special projects and events as assigned. Represent the dining operations at weekly manager meetings.
Minimum Qualifications: Five to seven years of proven experience in event planning, marketing, or a related role, ideally within a dining or hospitality context.

Strong creative and strategic thinking skills with the ability to develop and implement innovative ideas. Proficiency in social media and digital marketing strategies. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously. Flexible schedule including availability for evening and weekend events as needed.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse student groups.


Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Event Management, Hospitality or a related field preferred.
