The purpose of this position is to ensure that WNC business transactions are executed in compliance with all applicable Customs regulations worldwide.
The primary accountabilities are to determine: Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications applicable for the United States, and Mexico; qualification of made products for USMCA, generation of USMCA certificates; maintain audit ready documentation and databases to support the classifications assigned and USMCA certification program. Additional duties are to determine ECCN classifications and OGA for WNC products, components, and materials. Assist in annual FTA analysis for WNC products and coordination with internal departments of annual solicitation of FTA WNC Suppliers. Assist Customer Service in FTA analysis for products sold to strategic Customers.
Other responsibilities may be assigned, depending upon experience and qualifications, such as: ensuring that internal controls regarding the tariff classification, classification for the European Union and other World Trade Organization countries throughout the world, and coordination with Engineering, Sourcing and other operational areas to request and interpret Merchandize Specifications which are needed to determine the Customs Classification.
Skills and Abilities
Required
Demonstrated ability to correctly assign harmonized tariff codes to products and USMCA qualification.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability, communication skills and global mindset.
Detail-oriented, possessing good analytical skills; able to anticipate problems and diffuse situations.
Self-motivated and able to simultaneously manage multiple time-sensitive tasks, with little supervision.
Excellent communication skills
Customer-focused and a strong team member, able to shift roles as required by the group dynamic (e.g. contributor, facilitator).
Fluent in English and Spanish
Proficiency in three of the following: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access, Visio.
Use of the of the SNAP-R system for official export classifications.
Preferred
Customs Classification and Compliance experience in a manufacturing environment in a major corporation, Maquiladora experience preferred.
Engineering or other technical experience.
Leadership skills and experience managing outside service providers
Experience using Six-Sigma tools to drive process improvements
Education
4 year degree in related Logistics or International Business field
