Our client is looking to add a Technical Project Manager (PM) that will be responsible for the overall planning, management, documentation and successful completion of Information Technology programs and projects for a variety of business units. The SPM has dotted line management authority over all project participants and must hold them accountable, in conjunction with their direct supervisors, for task completion and project delivery. The SPM provides input into individual performance reviews from a 360-degree perspective. The SPM works with customers to develop project plans and work break down structures. Uses project management skills to manage project roles, identify resource requirements, define project deliverables, manage issues and risks, develop training and testing plans, and ensure quality of projects. The SPM manages the identification of technical approaches and the system development process. Ensure effective communications and relationships between customers and project team members. Provides team leadership and assigns and checks work products. Provides input for on boarding and evaluating team members.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with business customers to identify and coordinate new IT system development and enhancements.
Works with appropriate project stakeholders to develop project plans, including cost / benefit analysis, work schedule, critical success factors, and any related risks.
Assigns, schedules, reviews, and monitors project work to ensure that progress is within expected guidelines and is completed on time and within budget.
Manages, mentors, and provides expertise to project team members.
Works with appropriate project stakeholders to identify project team members and roles, project reporting structures, and project team training requirements.
Defines the project responsibilities of the steering committee, executive sponsor, project lead, information technology lead, development team, subject matter experts, quality assurance liaison, and end users.
Has dotted line management authority for project members and provides input into project members performance reviews.
Identifies, tracks, monitors, and communicates project-related issues, scope changes, variances and contingencies that may arise during the project lifecycle. Facilitates solutions with the appropriate stakeholders.
Creates communication plans and maintains effective communications and working relationships with stakeholders and project team members.
Manages the technical development process including the development of systems analysis, technical design, coding, testing and rollout. Develops system review schedules, audits and acceptance tests for each phase of a project.
Develops Requests for Information (RFI's), Requests for Proposals (RFP), evaluates responses, and leads vendor selection teams.
Required Qualifications
Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering or a closely related field.
5+ years of experience managing the implementation and support of software/application development projects.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Information Technology and Business colleagues.
Ability to demonstrate clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to develop, lead, motivate and supervise working team
Considerable problem solving and decision-making skills.
Experience with project management software like Clarity and Microsoft Project.
Formal Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred but not required.
