Oscar Energy, partnering with a renewable energy client, is looking for an experienced Project Development Manager. This role will take charge of the end-to-end development process for utility-scale and distributed generation (DG) renewable projects. The ideal candidate will oversee every phase of project development, from identifying optimal land sites to securing final permits, driving the success of these energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the development of renewable energy projects, focusing on land acquisition, real estate research, and site analysis for utility-scale solar projects.
Perform due diligence on prospective sites, including zoning, interconnection potential, environmental studies, mineral rights, and relevant commercial terms.
Engage with landowners, agents, and legal teams to negotiate and finalize land agreements, easements, and crossing agreements.
Conduct zoning and floodplain research, ensuring sites meet jurisdictional requirements for solar development.
Collaborate with surveyors for boundary identification, infrastructure analysis, and land surveys (ALTA, TOPO).
Oversee negotiations with stakeholders on infrastructure crossings, easements, mineral rights waivers, and tax abatements.
Coordinate environmental and geotechnical studies, including Phase I and II ESA, hydrology, and wetland identification.
Liaise with federal, state, and local authorities to secure permits, including FAA, environmental, and tax abatements.
Manage interconnection assessments, working with engineers to determine load capacities and transmission availability.
Support cross-functional teams including legal, finance, business development, and EPC contractors to synchronize project timelines and budgets.
Ensure successful land transactions through coordination with real estate agents/brokers for leasing, purchasing, or selling land as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Energy, or a related field.
4+ years of hands-on experience in solar project development, with expertise in land management and acquisition.
Strong background in negotiating commercial real estate agreements and easements.
Prior experience as a Landman is highly preferred.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
Basic knowledge of legal contracts, land titles, and environmental regulations.
Proficient in conducting public land research and familiar with land use, tax abatements, and permits.
Familiarity with the interconnection process, including transmission and distribution systems.
Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
