Our client is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven individual to oversee all aspects of their Ohio-based union plant operations. This leadership role encompasses annual planning, execution, capital improvements, equipment and facility maintenance, and ensuring a safe working environment. The Plant Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day leadership for plant operations and business functions.
Review production schedules and monitor scrap rates, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Control and monitor expenses, researching strategies to reduce costs while optimizing workflow, safety, labor requirements, and material flow.
Regularly communicate business and operational updates to all employees.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives by rigorously applying the client's business system principles across all operations.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement through active employee engagement.
Develop talent through performance management, succession planning, and continuous training in areas such as lean manufacturing, safety, technical skills, and adherence to processes.
Collaborate with department managers to align plant goals with key performance indicators (KPIs) in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity.
Evaluate labor, space, materials, and capital equipment needs; conduct cost analyses and calculate ROI for investments.
Manage vendor relationships to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality supplies for production schedules.
Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
5-10 years of experience in industrial manufacturing.
Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, maintenance, and engineering principles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, organize, and make informed decisions.
Proven success in leading cross-functional teams.
Expertise in Lean, Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement methodologies in a business systems environment.
Ability to identify strategic opportunities and implement sustainable changes to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost year-over-year.
Proficiency in MS Office applications and manufacturing ERP systems.
Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment is preferred.
