What you need:
A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an ABET accredited university in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, Civil, Mechanical preferred) or Environmental Science, Physical Science, Geology, or Biological Sciences degree
United States Citizenship Required
Ability to obtain a secret government security clearance
3-5 years of environmental experience
The skills/experience we want to see:
PROGRAMS - Serve as the command technical expert/media manager in more than one of the following programs: Facilities Response Program (FRP); Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC); Underground Storage Tanks (UST) and Aboveground Storage Tanks (AST); Environmental Management Systems (EMS); and other environmental protection programs.
PERMITS - Manages installation aspects of environmental plans and permits; ensure compliance with permits issued by local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies. Responsible for developing, renewing, and submitting permit applications; researching and enforcing permit conditions; developing and implementing permit sampling and testing plans; submitting monitoring reports; and identifying and resolving compliance problems.
POLICIES - Planning, coordinating, advising, implementing, and managing environmental policies to ensure environmental compliance. Ensure compliance with Federal, State [Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ)], local, Department of Navy and Department of Defense executive orders, directives, rules, regulations and laws pertaining to environmental protection, compliance, pollution prevention, & conservation.
INSPECTIONS - Maintains knowledge/oversight of compliance status including inspection discrepancies, status of corrective actions, and permit compliance data. Coordinates environmental program inspections to ensure compliance with applicable Navy, State, Federal, and local regulatory regulations and policies. Provides technical expertise in resolving compliance issues with regulators.
OVERSIGHT - Provides day-to-day environmental compliance and oversight and performing as an Environmental expert in a Federal, State or Local government agency.
DOCUMENTATION/REVIEWS - Participate in review of environmental planning documents; or may participate on various planning boards. Review proposed projects & contractor submittals including plans, studies, permits, designs, drawings, samples, data, etc.; work plans; accident prevention plans; and completion reports for compliance with state & local requirements.
PROJECTS - Able to interpret environmental regulatory requirements for compliance and determine the need for and propose projects required for compliance, conservation, or restoration program needs.
TEAMING - Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team environment and across functional boundaries.
