The Senior Buyer is responsible for placing, tracking and expediting material, services, and equipment purchases for fastener manufacturing purposes. This is a senior level purchasing position that will work with established and potential new suppliers, leading strategic sourcing initiatives to identify and successfully qualify new suppliers for Click Bond. The Senior Buyer will have daily interaction with the manufacturing department to ensure accurate, timely and quality delivery of materials, services, and equipment. The Senior Buyer will take the lead in specialty purchasing roles, collaborating with management, and internal stakeholders to generate exceptional results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complete accurate and timely purchases of quality raw materials in support of manufacturing schedules.
Complete timely and accurate purchases of non-inventory and outside processing requirements for goods and services as assigned.
Mentor and advise the more junior members of the purchasing team as needed.
Lead strategic sourcing efforts to identify potential new sources for materials, services, and equipment, resulting in improved quality, delivery, and pricing. Eliminate single source supplier situations wherever possible, resulting in increased sourcing capability and enhanced negotiation leverage.
Identify and implement potential cost reductions, working in a team environment with Quality, Engineering, Finance, and Manufacturing.
Drive strategic initiatives to maximize the value of key supplier working relationships, resulting in improved communications, quality and delivery performance, and measurable cost reductions.
Solicit and evaluate supplier proposals for completeness, compliance to specs, price, conformance to quality standards and schedule. Prepare and present clear and accurate quotation comparison summaries.
Stay current with new developments in market trends and technology, and communicate new products services, and developments to internal stakeholders.
Update and distribute monthly supplier performance scorecards to their assigned suppliers.
Update Vendor Master and Vendor Part Data in MAX system, to reflect current and accurate lead times, pricing, and minimum order quantities.
Assure supplier compliance to established Click Bond Freight Routing Guides, to effectively control inbound freight costs.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate CB policies and procedures.
Assist in maintaining clean, orderly and hazard-free work areas.
Able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter and be detail oriented.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrate the following capabilities:
Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures.
Complete knowledge of warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures.
Extensive knowledge and ability to negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.
Ability to understand and interpret contract terms and point out potentially detrimental or one-sided clauses.
Excellent attention to detail.
Proficiency in clear and understandable written and verbal communications.
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and inventory systems, Max/ERP experience preferred.
Accurate intermediate math skills to include use of percentages and discounting, pay back and ROI analysis.
Able to meet deadlines. Always willing to go the extra mile to complete projects on schedule.
Able to work in team environment.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree.
APICS or ISM classes completed, with Supply Chain Certification preferred.
Seven or more years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment; or, have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to purchase metals, plastics, adhesives and other raw materials.
An equivalent combination of the above education and skills.

Work primarily performed in a standard office environment. If in manufacturing areas, may be exposed to noise, smells, heat, dust, etc., requiring protective eyewear and/or hearing protection. Work requires the observance of fire regulations and safe work practices.
