Job Summary:
FD Thomas is seeking a Sr. Estimator, specifically focused on our waterproofing division, who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about achieving goals. This person is responsible for preparing, developing, and coordinating the preparation of full estimates for large and complex projects and services related to below grade and above grade waterproofing industry. You will develop, produce, and maintain production units according to industry standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze and evaluate project plans, specifications, scope, difficulty, and any other requirements necessary to prepare a job cost estimate and assemble bid packages.
Prepare conceptual estimates and/or budgets.
Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and unit pricing using established company production rates.
When quantity survey is complete, establish profit & overhead for project if requested.
Use the Request for Information (RFI) process when information is lacking (document appropriately)
Inform VP of Estimating of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in plans and specifications
Maintain in the job file, all correspondence records and notes for the project being bid (log all bid documents)
Review and analyze all quotes to ensure they meet the standards and specifications for the project.
Communicate with General Contractor's, owners, vendors, and trades.
Secure vendor pricing and select vendors and subcontractors by their cost effectiveness for each project.
Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to completely cover scope in the most cost-effective way.
Immediately respond to any vendor or subcontractor questions; resolve issues immediately and completely.
Get written documentation on vendor and subcontractor quotes.
Be proficient in project principals, policies, and procedures and apply them during course of work.
Participate in (and may lead) weekly planning meetings with estimating staff.
Assist PMs with Buyouts on projects.
Assist Project Manager with purchasing and any change orders on projects estimated as requested.
Ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Checks are always in place.
Job close out and reviews.
Attend pre-job meetings.
Attend all estimating meetings.
Attending project job walks as assigned.
Be available on all bid days to assist in the collection and review of incoming quotes.
Provide value engineering as requested.

Key Requirements, Education, and Experience:
Minimum of 10 years' experience in Construction
Minimum 5 years' experience in Estimating
Degree or certification in related field
Strong working knowledge of Constructware and / or Viewpoint
5+ years formal experience in estimating commercial construction projects or experience in the planning or managing of engineering design or construction, or experience in overseeing large engineering projects.Professional education and/or experience in the construction and/or relevant industries
Thorough understanding of estimating and/or construction management
Significant level of overall experience in the design/construction field, specifically industrial and commercial construction
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
Excellent math and organizational skills
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) with an ability to accurately learn new software quickly.
