A well-established, thriving manufacturing plant based in Louisville, KY is seeking a Plant Manager to lead a 24/7 unionized workforce of 135 to the next level. This position is responsible for setting the vision for the site, developing the staff and maintaining excellent employee relations while safely achieving productivity goals. This role has 5 direct reports and offers great potential for upward mobility in the next 3-5 years.
Essential Job Functions
Lead and exemplify a culture where 'safety is a core value' is a true belief and ensure safety accountability across the organization
Manage and lead the central functions including HR, Production, EHS, Materials, Finance, Purchasing and Maintenance/Engineering
Lead projects and teams following Lean, Continuous Improvements or Six Sigma principles
Promote a plant culture that is responsive to the manufacturing environment and business needs through teamwork and personal responsibility of the processes
Work closely with marketing, sales, and the R&D functions to support and contribute to new product development, scale-up, and product modifications
Be active and visible within the organization in order to improve and bridge the gap between the business strategy and the employees
Lead and complete miscellaneous projects as necessary
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other closely related technical area is required.
Minimum 10-12 years progressive leadership experience in a Chemical Manufacturing facility. This experience must include leadership at a high level in Operations.
Will accept those with Production Manager, Assistant Plant Manager level experience.
Lean mindset - has lived it and implemented the culture throughout an organization
Proficient in leading the plant, providing direction, support and development for manufacturing teams across the plant
Strong communication and networking skills, Must have presence, confidence and be articulate.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills as well as facilitation experience; approachable
Self-motivated, proactive with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, "high energy", team oriented environment
Must demonstrate enthusiasm, a sense of urgency, attention to detail, commitment and follow-through while maintaining confidentiality and meeting deadlines
Experience leading in a union environment is strongly preferred
Salary and Benefits
?Salary Range - $175,000 - 195,000 plus up to 30% bonus
