Mammoth Freighters is seeking a Certification Engineer to join our growing team. This Certification Engineer will work closely with the Director of Certification, Engineering, Program Management, and FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) to support certification activities related to major STC modifications, ensuring design and substantiating data meet the requirements of the FAA and foreign authorities. This full-time position is offered either remote or onsite in Fort Worth, Texas. The ability to travel periodically for assignments is required. The position is open to junior- or senior-level applicants. The successful candidate will enjoy problem-solving and investigation of issues to produce innovative, forward-thinking solutions.
Job Responsibilities:
Define and coordinate certification requirements internally and externally throughout all phases of projects.
Provide subject matter expert guidance to engineering teams in relation to certification aspects.
Contribute to cross-functional teams in the resolution of technical issues.
Prepare and maintain high-level certification project documents.
Prepare and maintain certain compliance documents.
Perform reviews of compliance documents to ensure compliance is demonstrated.
Support certification testing as required at the component level, system level, and on-aircraft.
Manage, track, and report on the status of certification activities for projects.
Provide input and updates of certification activities to program management for milestone schedules.
Job Skills:
Strong technical writing skills including experience in authoring letters, certification plans, test plans/reports, analysis, manuals, technical presentations, among other technical documents.
Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral/written communication skills, and a cooperative attitude.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities/tasks and adapt to new and changing priorities.
Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint proficiency.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or related field and/or equivalent education and experience.
At least 3 years of experience working on aerospace certification projects, including significant, major STC modifications.
Working knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 21, 25, and 26 as well as FAA orders, policy, and advisory materials.
Direct experience in working with the FAA, FAA designees, ODAs, and foreign authorities is desired.
Specialist knowledge of at least one of the following is desired:
Mechanical Systems
Powerplant/Fuel
Electrical Systems/Avionics
Working knowledge of industry standards such as SAE ARP4754, RTCA DO-160, DO-178, and DO-254 is desired.
