A top client in New Jersey is seeking an experienced Product Owner to join their team.

The Product Owner is a key player in bridging business solutions with product execution. This role requires a structured, detail-oriented professional who ensures that all product-related tasks and next steps are thoroughly followed through. A significant part of the role involves maintaining an up-to-date Jira board, keeping tickets moving, and ensuring a smooth workflow.

While not overly technical, the Product Owner should have a strong understanding of product functionalities and be able to translate business needs into user stories and build out acceptance criteria. They work closely with the product team to ensure alignment on goals and timelines, acting as a mediator and providing alternative solutions when needed, often suggesting, "how about we try it this way."

Key stakeholder engagement is crucial in this role, requiring the ability to know when to take a leadership position and when to work discreetly behind the scenes. The role involves presenting a product-focused perspective to stakeholders without delving into the technical development aspects.

The Product Owner is expected to support enterprise-wide initiatives and ensure smooth communication across different teams within the organization. This role is based in Englewood Cliffs, NJ, with an expectation to travel to NYC for meetings and engagements at least bi-weekly or monthly.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Product Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess not only strong analytical skills but also basic HR skills, including proficiency in using Jira, writing user stories, and gathering business requirements. Additionally, the candidate should excel in dealing with applications, identifying, and plugging the holes wherever we have gaps. Personality-wise, we are looking for someone who can follow instructions meticulously and works effectively within a collaborative team environment.

This is a hybrid role based in New Jersey requiring on-site presence three days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand business objectives, processes, and requirements.
  • Utilize Jira and other tools to manage tasks, track progress, and facilitate communication within the team.
  • Write clear and concise user stories that effectively communicate business needs and requirements.
  • Gather and document detailed business requirements through interviews, workshops, and other elicitation techniques.
  • Identify gaps in existing processes and systems and recommend innovative solutions to address them.
  • Work closely with HR and other functional teams to ensure that business applications meet their requirements and support their processes effectively.
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for business applications, addressing issues, and implementing enhancements as needed.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including process flows, system diagrams, and training materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineers and Developers to design and implement solutions that drive operational efficiency and improve business outcomes.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate updates to stakeholders, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Work with third party vendors and conduct market research analysis.
  • Conduct PI Planning, grooming sessions, and create roadmaps.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Information Systems, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and 5+ years of industry experience.
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner
  • Experience with Jira for tracking tasks, projects, milestones
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze data to identify trends and insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Solid understanding of business process modeling, requirements elicitation, and solution design methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools is a plus.
