1. Support AR&T of the High Energy Materials and Applied Technology (HEMAT) Group with product and process development and optimization, process validation.
2. Hands on development new advance technology of intraocular lenses (IOL) and intraocular implants and associated jigs, fixtures and test equipment.
3. Execute product and process qualification protocols and summarize results in report format.
4. Review Manufacturing and Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures and Drawings to ensure adequacy. Recommend revisions to existing procedures and drawings when needed.
5. Train Manufacturing and Quality personnel in protocol execution, special test procedures, etc., as required.
6. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & TRAINING • Machining technical school/college: 2 years (preferred) • Machinist: 3-5 years (required) • 5 years' experience as a mechanical technician, medical device industry (preferred)
EXPERIENCE • Knowledge of precision machinery and machining techniques required. • Hands on development with small devices.
SKILLS • Good verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to read technical drawings and use knowledge for setups, work holding fixtures, process steps and equipment and tooling selection • Setting up and operating CNC lathes (required) • Experience using microscope and/or other measurement/inspection equipment • Good analytical and problem-solving skills. • Basic computer knowledge (Excel, Word). • CAD experience (preferred). • Familiarity with Good Documentation practices (preferred) • Must be able to work independently and /or in a team environment
