LHH is hiring a Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist in Phoenix for a 6+ month Contract
We are looking for a dedicated professional to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Clinical Documentation Program, reporting to the CDI Manager. This role involves implementing and maintaining CDI program outcomes and ensuring compliance across the system. Role Overview
As the CDI Supervisor, you will work closely with the CDI Manager to monitor daily activities, support hiring and onboarding, and mentor the Clinical Documentation Specialists (CDS). You will ensure that documentation is accurate, timely, and reflective of patient care. You will also collaborate with departments like coding, care management, and revenue cycle to ensure quality standards and organizational goals are met.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and monitor the daily activities of the Clinical Documentation Specialists.
Ensure medical records reflect accurate documentation for patient care and quality measures.
Provide performance feedback, training, and mentoring for CDS staff.
Facilitate education opportunities to promote development and a collaborative environment.
Act as a liaison with internal and external partners on CDI matters.
Skills and Knowledge
Strong understanding of CDI standards, compliance, and clinical documentation guidelines.
Proficient with Microsoft Office, encoder software, denial software, and EMR systems.
Ability to supervise, mentor, and foster a positive work environment.
Effective communication skills and a high degree of professionalism.
Must be adaptable and able to implement changes and processes.
Requirements
Certification: Must hold a Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Clinical Documentation Improvement Professional (CDIP) certification.
Education: Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's in Nursing or Health Information Management preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of clinical documentation experience, with supervisory experience required.
Licensure: Valid AZ RN license or valid compact RN licensure.
Additional Information
Location: Phoenix, AZ - The role requires hybrid work with at least one day onsite per week (more during onboarding). Occasional travel to ambulatory clinic sites is required.
