The job of the Residential Construction Production Assistant is to engage with, train under, and assist Project Managers with day-to-day tasks, from inception to completion of their projects.
Responsibilities:
Assist in maintaining project schedules with the project management software
Assume primary management duties to develop and maintain standards and use of project management software (JobTread).
Filing and maintenance of subcontractor bids, including scope compliance verification.
Alert sub contractors to the status of project schedules, and their scheduled start date.
Aid PM's with documenting and presenting change orders to clients from within the project management software.
Attend weekly production meetings.
Assist in preparation and management of project budgets, including tracking expenses, reviewing invoices, and identifying cost saving measures without sacrificing quality.
Provide checklists to PM's and crew at relevant periods throughout the project.
Basic understanding of means, methods, and codes related to residential and commercial remodeling and construction.
Maintain the client selections checklist for all projects, and work to keep clients informed on the timeliness of those decisions
Be present for meetings with clients/designers and follow up with meeting notes
Interacting with staff, clients in a clear, respectful, and professional manner.
Clearly communicating to the team deadlines, problems, and solutions with the ongoing work/estimate load.
Being available to the production team during construction for Q&A, clarifications, assistance with change order pricing and evaluation, etc.
Assist in direct project management duties in consult with both project managers and production manager, including, but not limited to: job site inspections, subcontractor and crew coordination, client coordination and communication, milestone meeting preparation and participation.
Responsible for other duties as required in production, operations, estimating, and direct project management.
Maintain the warranty schedule, and work with warranty manager to ensure warranty walkthroughs and claims are handled in a timely manner.
Manage coordination/scheduling of all project autopsies within 30 days of project completion.
Create job closeout folders for each project, and provide to client.
Expectations:
A non-disclosure and non-compete agreement would be part of a salaried arrangement.
The Production Assistant generally will work a 40-hour week, but it may occasionally be necessary to work extended hours.
Attendance of Monday morning full staff meetings (7am). Attend other meetings as required.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of field experience, and/or a related college degree
Working knowledge of most aspects of residential construction
Proficient with current technology; ie smart phones, email, Word, Excel, etc.
Must be able to work under time constraints and meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
Comprehensive organizational skills, time management, oral and written communication skills, the ability to multitask and attention to detail are required
Must be proactive, have a positive attitude, be self-motivated and resourceful as well as possess keen people skills
Ability to read and understand construction documents
