The right candidate will be responsible for leading the Leave of Absence department in accordance with corporate policies, practices and applicable federal and state regulations. Ensure all leaves are administered in full compliance of leave laws to include the Family and Medical Leave Act ("FMLA"), Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA") and all other related employment laws. Promote a team environment and culture of customer service that will ensure program effectiveness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the LOA Team to administer leave programs and policies in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.) and ensure compliance with company policies
Educate and provide training and advice to employees and management regarding the various leave programs, procedures, and roles/responsibilities
Direct the development and delivery of educational resources to employees, HR, and management about leave of absence protocols, promoting a culture of awareness and understanding
Develop and maintain reports and metrics related to leaves of absence
Manage and distribute the workload of assigned cases for the LOA Team. Provide a point of contact and leadership resource to the LOA Team for the leave programs in alignment and under the general direction and guidance of HR leadership and legal
Oversee the support and administration in the operational day-to-day HR transactions related to company policies and procedures as related to leaves of absence
Provide guidance to LOA Team regarding the interactive process, heightened situational leave issues or advanced leave guidelines
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises 4 or more employees
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Ten years of experience in managing leaves (FMLA, LTD, STD) and accommodations in a complex, multi-state environment
Extensive knowledge of employee benefits as they relate to leaves of absence, including short/long term disability, COBRA, state disability, ADA, FMLA and other applicable laws
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred
Peoplesoft and absence management experience a plus
