SUMMARY OF POSITION
As a Program Manager and site leader, you will be responsible for supporting a portfolio of Tooling and Equipment projects in the Defense sector. The role is located within a customer site, and as such you will be interacting daily with customers from the Sector Tooling Director level on-down to engineers, project managers, and procurement personnel.
Activities include liaising with customer Tooling & Automation project managers and management on active projects across the sector, direct oversight of the team installing equipment in Palmdale, and new business acquisition.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Grow customer trust & confidence through effective communication of status, risks, issues and improvements to local customer management. When issues arise, communicate them internally and develop strategies to resolve.
Identify and help win new work in Palmdale and other customer sites. This requires regularly interfacing with different program customers at the customer site in Palmdale.
For projects delivered to Palmdale, oversee install teams and tool integration to ensure customer satisfaction.
Participate in all project reviews and work with our build-site project managers to address risk items, and make sure we have effective plans so that you can communicate as such to the customer during informal briefings.
Assist our build-site project managers with change control proposals, tracking them and helping capture without destroying customer confidence.
Project Manage specific projects directly, including cost, schedule and performance.
Manage the classified War Room status meetings.
Manage the SAMS (Supplier Assessment Management System) process and ensure that our ratings accurately reflect our performance, and where we fall short, work within the organization to develop and drive improvement plans.
Provide local site leadership & coordination for program reviews and other meetings attended by non-local personnel.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
BS Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial), Construction Management, or Business with concentration in Project Management is preferred, directly related experience may be substituted.
Experience in Program / Project Management role, preferably in Aerospace.
Experience in an Account Manager / Business Development role
Strong verbal & written communication skills. Excellent presentation skills for simplifying complex issues and status.
Ability to read blueprints / CAD models and a basic understanding of GD&T principles.
Ability to understand a P&L statement and principles of cash management applied to a project, and strong Excel spreadsheet skills for analysis.
US Citizen, because the job requires access to classified DOD program areas.
