Our Livonia, Michigan office is currently seeking a Payroll Manager to join our team! The essential function of the Payroll Manager is maintaining the HRIS and ensuring that payroll is processed correctly. The Payroll Manager will oversee reconciliation of payroll to ensure accuracy and ensure compliance with applicable governmental requirements. The Payroll Manager will focus on strategic overview of the payroll team and will handle disputes or complex issues that cannot be resolved by the payroll processing team.

Primary Responsibilities:
Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service.
Manage implementations of HRIS and labor system changes and upgrades
Manage payroll team in the US and Canada
Oversee payroll processing within both the US and Canada
Responsible for oversight and reconciliation of, filing and maintenance of employer /employee tax returns for federal, state, and local taxes.
Responsible for procedural review of wage and hour laws, as well as company policies as they relate to payroll and benefits to ensure compliance.
Works collaboratively with all level of management to address system/network/employee related matters as they pertain to the HRIS.
Establish and maintain controls that verify the integrity of all payroll systems, processes and data and enhance the company's value through internal audit practices.
Focus on strategic initiatives and review complex payroll issues, serving as the project lead on reviewing the issue and finding resolution.
Education/Background Requirements:
Degree in Accounting or related field required.
At least five years' experience managing a multi-state in-house payroll department. FPC or CPP certification required.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Extensive knowledge and experience working with multi-state weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual tax reporting at the federal, state and local levels.
Experience in interpreting and applying federal and state laws.
Proficient with MS Office products (especially Excel) and multi-faceted HRIS (UKG).
Ability to foster positive relationships with vendors, clients, and company employees.
Ability to prioritize and deal with competing demands; multi-tasking capacity critical.
Approaches responsibility with a strong sense of ownership and commitment to excellence.
Ability to solve complex problems and carry out responsibilities with little or no supervision
Must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
