The Role:
The Tax Manager will be the first hire for our US tax team, serving as the subject matter expert for all tax matters, including state, federal, and international income tax filings. This role will work closely with the CFO and the Controller, acting as the primary point of contact for our external consulting firm and coordinating the filing of information for year-end compliance. The Tax Manager will also play a key role in tax planning and financial modeling, ensuring optimal structuring of development projects and monetization of tax credits.
Responsibilities & essential functions:
Act as the primary point of contact for the external consulting firm, coordinating the filing of information for year-end and ensuring compliance with income tax provisions relevant to the development pipeline.
Lead tax planning and financial modeling efforts to optimize the taxable base, including the structuring of development projects and monetization of tax credits.
Coordinate with advisors on the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual Federal/State and withholding tax returns for US renewable operations.
Manage and ensure compliance with US GAAP income tax filing (ASC 740) and international income tax filing (IAS 12).
Analyze, structure, and implement tax credit monetization strategies (e.g., ITC/PTC tax equity, ITC/PTC transfer) in collaboration with respective corporate areas.
Review and authorize completed tax returns to ensure accuracy and completeness, maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in the renewable utility-scale sector is highly preferred.
Strong foundation and solid understanding of Federal and State income tax compliance and tax reporting processes.
Experience with the documentation and processes necessary to compile and transmit information efficiently to tax partners.
Proven ability to review and authorize completed returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Expertise in tax planning, financial modeling, and implementation of tax credit monetization strategies.
Knowledge of US GAAP income tax filing (ASC 740) and international income tax filing (IAS 12).
Excellent communication and coordination skills to work effectively with external advisors and internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or other relevant professional certification.
Advanced degree in Taxation, Accounting, or related field.
Experience with tax software and financial modeling tools.
