Sr. Mechanical Engineer | Sunrise, FL

Direct Hire | 120-160K/YR

Position Summary:

Design and development of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) communication devices and accessories. Analyze first article mechanical samples, develop 2D and 3D CAD drawings, and assist the engineering and quality department with data collection and root cause analysis from reported issues. The applicant may be involved with manufacturing and mechanical engineering support activities that will enhance their understating of the manufacturing and engineering processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Capture end-user and market-based requirements.
• Prepare concept design of mechanical/electromechanical systems for portable, mobile, and base station equipment and related accessories.
• Work closely with the hardware team to provide design feedback based on circuit requirements and user requirements.
• Generate detailed drawings and final documentation packages in CAD, verify design integrity using tolerance studies and execute engineering notices by updating drawing revision levels as required for product releases.
• Be able to generate and understand mechanical Bill-of-Material structures.
• Work closely with manufacturing to solve mechanical related assembly problems and develop fixtures for assembly and/or test.

Knowledge & Skills:
• Proficient with parametric design software required.
• Perform inspections of first article samples of new parts and assemblies within the callouts of the inspection drawing.
• Ability to operate equipment to measure and calibrate parts and use machine shop equipment.
• Solid knowledge in parametric design
• Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills.
• Good analytical skills.
• Very detail-oriented, accurate and organized.
• Ability to work under pressure, on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong computer skills including Excel, Word and Power Point required

Qualifications:
• Education: Minimum Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience: Minimum 5years of Mechanical Engineering design experience.
• Requires understanding of advanced Engineering concepts including materials (metals, plastics, rubber, silicone, etc.), fabrication methods, tooling and molding design and processing, sheet metal and stamping processes, components and development software.
• Be proficient with CAD modeling concept and terminology.
