Selby Jennings is representing a Kansas City based Private Equity firm as they seek an Associate addition to their Portfolio team. This firm is generalist, covering a wide variety of industries including consumer, business services, industrials and sports among others. The Portfolio Associate will work closely with the internal Investment & Portfolio teams as well as external portfolio company leadership to maximize value creation.
Responsibilities:
Lead the development and management of comprehensive financial planning processes for portfolio companies, including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term strategic plans.
Conduct in-depth financial analysis to assess portfolio company performance, including variance analysis, scenario planning, and sensitivity analysis.
Prepare detailed financial reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including investors, senior management, and the board of directors.
Maintain and update financial models, databases, and dashboards to ensure accurate and timely information is available for decision-making.
Monitor the financial performance of portfolio companies, identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities to enhance value creation.
Assist in the financial due diligence process for add-on investments, including reviewing financial statements, conducting market research, and preparing investment memos.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate bachelor's degree with excellent academic record. Significant coursework in business, finance, accounting, economics, and/or quantitative disciplines is preferred
2-4 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, management consulting, transaction advisory, or FP&A at a private equity backed company with revenues greater than $25M.
Proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, PowerPoint, and financial reporting tools. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create compelling financial presentations.
