Role - Product Development Engineer - Restraints D&R
Position Description:
Product Development Engineer - Restraints Design and Release Restraints D&R engineer is responsible for the design and release of restraints components and systems for the new and current vehicles.
Responsibilities:
Managing project timing
Releasing drawing and engineering specifications
Creating specific FMA (Failure Mode Analysis) Documents, DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) and quality documents
Part delivery on time for each program milestone
Tracking of supplier's deliverables.
Design, develop, validate, and release automotive systems, subsystems, and components for the assigned programs
Monitor the development of interior trim for Vehicles according to company - specific benchmarks
Design parts to comply with corporate and local requirements for parts validation, considering WCR (Worldwide Customer Requirements), ES (Engineering specifications), and SDS (System Design Specifications) as well as the Manufacturing and Assembly requirements
Translate customer, regulatory, and product requirements into engineering targets - Monitor supplier and analyze customer feedback through systems (WERS, FEDE, GPDS, Catia).
Responsible for incorporating new designs and engineering changes at the Assembly Plant and leading discussions with involved parties including suppliers
Support suppliers and assembly departments with current production quality and manufacturing issues
Support production part approval processes (PPAP) for mass production
Skills Required:
Good program management skills with the ability to manage a number of assignments simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others as part of a team.
Significant problem solving skills previously demonstrated through resume and interview questions
Experience Required:
5+ years of experience working as a D&R engineer
Experience Preferred:
Restraints experience is a plus
Education Required:
Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering
Additional Information:
Position is fully onsite
Some travel is required / about 10% / Various US locations and Mexico / Travel to include overnight or multiple day stays
