Our client is seeking a Program Manager to join their dynamic Commercial & Specialty Lines team. This role will report to the Vice President of Commercial & Specialty Lines and will be integral to the continued growth and profitability of the company. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial and personal lines underwriting, sales, or product management.
Salary: $95-$120k
Responsibilities:
Participate in the selection, onboarding, and ongoing management of Managing General Agent (MGA) program business
Develop strong partnerships with your MGA-led programs, and help them achieve top tier profitability and growth
Proactively manage your programs, promptly identify areas that need improvement, craft plans to address issues, implement them, and manage to conclusion
Regularly meet with your Managing General Agent-led programs' key personnel to drive optimal production and profitability
Lead the due diligence process for the selection of new programs, coordinate between departments to examine all facets of the program to ensure programs are selected for the portfolio that benefit the company's bottom line
Assist in the negotiating of terms of MGA contracts alongside the legal department and Commercial & Specialty Lines leadership for new programs, and amendments, as needed for renewal programs
Coordinate with the Director of Reinsurance to negotiate with reinsurance brokers and reinsurers to place quota share and excess of loss reinsurance agreements for new and renewing programs to ensure optimal terms for company
Work alongside the actuarial team to monitor written premiums and loss ratios; coordinate rate, form, and rule filings with the MGA to ensure program profitability
Conduct annual (sometimes more frequent) underwriting file reviews of assigned programs to ensure guidelines are followed and that risk selection, pricing, and form usage is appropriate
Manage underwriting referrals from assigned programs; seek authority to adjust referral criteria as appropriate considering volume, profitability of the program, and oversight expectations of our reinsurance partners
Review reports provided by the regulatory audit team
Other duties and projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
5 years of commercial lines or personal lines underwriting, sales, or product management experience preferably in multiple lines of business
Excellent communication skills with the ability to skillfully negotiate difficult situations
Ability to foster and maintain relationships with internal and external partners
Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, regulatory, or financial challenges
Ability to analyze available information to make timely decisions in alignment with the company risk appetite
Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%
