Selby Jennings is working with a Houston based Private Equity firm that invests across the Energy industry. This firm is seeking an Associate addition on their deal team with a flexible start date from near term to 2025. This firm recently closed their most recent fund and have a large pool of dry powder to deploy.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in finance, accounting or engineering
1 - 3 years of direct experience in upstream private equity, upstream investment banking, equity research, engineering, or with an upstream operator
Primary responsibility for oil and gas asset and/or capital project valuation
Familiarity with operations and terminology common in the oil and gas industry
Ability to research, organize and analyze industry data, metrics and reports
Exhibit strong financial modeling and analysis skills
Significant competency modeling within Microsoft Excel and experience working regularly in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and analyze new investment opportunities
Perform detailed financial modeling and analysis/interpretation of complex data and financial statements
Conduct industry, sub-sector and company specific research
Assist with portfolio company monitoring and strategic planning initiatives
Monitor and evaluate portfolio companies by analyzing capital projects, financial models and asset performance
Evaluating oil and gas assets (historical operating statement analysis, analysis of well performance, etc.)
Engage with management teams, advisors, and other constituents
