We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in implementing strategic plans aimed at optimizing insurance recovery for high-value claims, particularly in complex tort cases such as asbestos, toxic torts, and environmental, and product liability claims.
This role requires a foundational understanding of insurance concepts and legal pleadings, as well as proficiency in Word and Excel to organize and track critical claim-related data. The consultant will work independently and collaboratively to improve processes, ensuring clients' needs are met efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Service & Claims Management:
Claims Documentation & Analysis: Review, record, and analyze information related to mass tort and liability claims filed by clients.
Insurer & Coverage Research: Research and assess the financial solvency of legacy insurers and determine the appropriate coverage for clients' claims.
Claims Notifications: Set up email and letter notifications to insurers, ensuring timely receipt and acknowledgment of claims.
Correspondence Review: Analyze insurer correspondence, highlighting key issues and communicating findings to senior consultants and clients.
Coverage Issues: Assess and guide on basic coverage issues related to commercial general liability and excess liability insurance policies.
Cost Tracking: Organize and track litigation and claims-related costs across multiple claims.
Client Communication: Maintain clear communication with clients and insurers to respond to questions, provide updates, and resolve issues related to coverage and claims.
Issue Identification: Proactively identify potential concerns or unclear issues in the claims process.
Research & Investigation:
Claims Research: Conduct research via Internet sources and other applicable methods to gather relevant information about claims, insurers, and policy details.
Financial Solvency Investigations: Investigate and assess the financial stability of parent companies and legacy insurers to ensure clients' claims are properly supported.
Process Improvement & Innovation:
Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency in claims management and recovery strategies.
Independent Work: Demonstrate initiative and creativity in handling complex issues while adhering to established protocols.
Key Qualifications:
Experience: 3-5+ years of relevant experience in handling complex claims at an insurance carrier or third-party administrator, with a strong focus on general liability and excess policies.
Specialized Knowledge: Proven experience managing long-tail tort claims, particularly in the areas of Asbestos, Toxic Torts, Environmental Claims, Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals, Pollution, Product Liabilities, and Premises Liabilities.
Legal & Insurance Knowledge: Familiarity with basic insurance concepts, legal pleadings (e.g., Summons and Complaint), and coverage issues related to mass tort claims.
Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel for managing and organizing claim data.
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
