About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Hardware Test Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing hardware and software, with a strong emphasis on thermal measurement methodologies. This role requires someone with a proven ability to run and document tests, often with repetitive procedures, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. If you have experience with Unix, basic machine shop skills, and some scripting or coding ability, this role will offer a unique opportunity to contribute to our product testing and quality assurance efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and Repair: Perform hardware and software troubleshooting and repairs as needed to support test activities.
  • Thermal Measurement: Apply knowledge of basic thermal measurement methodologies, including thermocouple placement and automated data acquisition.
  • Conduct Testing and Summarize Data: Execute test procedures, document results, and summarize data to assist in product analysis and development.
  • Manual Testing Procedures: Accurately follow repetitive manual test procedures while ensuring data precision and reliability.
  • Tool Operation and Machine Shop Tasks: Utilize basic hand tools (Dremel tools, hand drills, files, metal shears) and soldering skills for various test setups and minor repairs.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Hardware and Software Troubleshooting: Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repairing both hardware and software issues.
  • Thermal Testing Expertise: Knowledge of thermal measurement techniques, such as thermocouple setup, automated data acquisition, and thermocouple rework.
  • Data Precision and Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to provide accurate test data, with the ability to summarize findings effectively.
  • Self-Motivation and Time Management: Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and complete tasks as a self-starter.
  • Team Player with Strong Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively with team members.

Preferred Skills
  • Unix and Terminal Proficiency: Comfortable using Terminal in a Unix command line environment.
  • Basic Coding or Scripting: Experience with Unix Shell or Python scripting for automation tasks; Labview experience is a plus.
  • Machine Shop and Tool Skills: Experience with basic machine shop operations, hand tools, and soldering.
  • Proficiency in Software Tools: Skilled in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote, or similar software for data analysis and presentation.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
