Responsible for the identification, development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures that support total customer satisfaction, both internally and externally, where applicable in relation to this position.
Responsible for the safety of all personnel in his/her area of responsibility and for the achievement of the Corporate Safety objectives in that area. In order to do so, ensures that each employee's attitude and behavior promote an accident-free work area and that all employees are placed on appropriate jobs, are properly trained on that job, and are properly instructed concerning his/her safety responsibility, safety rules and proper machine operation/maintenance. Responsible for providing "Operator Safe" processes, methods, equipment and tooling for all plant operations. Responsible for investigation of accidents, safety inspections and housekeeping within his/her area of responsibility.
Manages all functions within the plant including production, maintenance, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering and materials. Responsible for establishing and managing all systems necessary to operate and improve the Plant. Responsible for maintaining plant autonomy, while maintaining close working relationship with existing plant and office personnel.
Responsible for maintaining the high Pella quality standards for all products produced by the plant. Makes sure that all plant personnel are properly trained in Quality Technology. Properly follows up on customer complaints, and ensures that responsible plant employees are involved in this follow-up. Measures of quality performance are made and reported with a major emphasis toward quality improvement.
Responsible for establishing operating budgets and operating the plant within those budgets in the areas of material usage, inventory management, operating efficiency and overall cost control.
Responsible for developing and maintaining an effective order scheduling system throughout the plant. This includes related functions such as part and component scheduling, final assembly scheduling, manpower planning and vendor scheduling. The plant must establish lead times for its products to conform to customer requirements and maintain a high level of on-time completion.
Responsible for maintaining a high level of morale for all hourly and exempt plant employees and for maintaining a "Union-free" environment. Ensures that all new employees receive proper orientation and training and that strong lines of two-way communication are kept open. Absenteeism in the plant must be kept within acceptable limits. Routinely schedules meetings with all plant personnel and keeps performance evaluations for all employees current. Development of and fair treatment of all employees will receive high priority.
Responsible for converting the plant into a Product-focused plant, utilizing Just-In-Time and Total Quality Control operating practices, with emphasis on continual improvement in safety and quality, and the elimination of all forms of waste.
Responsible for establishing productivity improvement objectives and priorities, and for providing resources and leadership in achieving the objectives.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages 6-12 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 25-40 employees in the plant. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also directly supervises 10-20 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer MBA degree.
