Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Associate to join our dynamic Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Team. The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of experience in commercial bankruptcy and creditors' rights, including secured and unsecured creditors' rights work, receiverships, bankruptcy litigation, and related matters. This is a unique opportunity to work with a collaborative team and support a diverse and impressive client base, including national and regional banks, community banks, state and federal court receivers, special servicers, bridge lenders, commercial borrowers, and purchasers of distressed assets.
Key Responsibilities:
As a member of our Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Team, your responsibilities will include:
Drafting and Legal Writing: Prepare and draft a variety of legal documents, including memoranda, loan documents, court briefs, and bankruptcy & receivership pleadings.
Litigation Support: Assist with commercial creditors' rights litigation, including actions on secured creditor and lien enforcement, guarantees, lender liability claims, and voidable transfer actions.
Receivership Matters: Work with the team on state and federal receivership cases, including advocating for the appointment of receivers for secured lender clients and representing receivers in liquidating businesses or properties.
Client Interaction: Provide exceptional service to clients by offering legal counsel and working directly with clients to meet their needs in bankruptcy and creditors' rights matters.
Strategic Case Management: Organize and assemble facts, financial statements, appraisals, and relevant statutes for case preparation and successful outcomes.
Collaboration: Support other attorneys within the firm and work collaboratively to move matters forward with thoughtful strategies and attention to detail.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
Education: Undergraduate and JD degrees from accredited academic institutions.
Licensing: Current membership with the Washington State Bar Association (WSBA).
Experience: At least five years of experience in commercial bankruptcy and creditors' rights law.
Skills:
Strong legal research and writing skills.
Excellent time and project management abilities.
Outstanding attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Proven ability to provide exceptional client service.
Additional Qualifications (Preferred):
In-court experience, including hearings and trial work, is a plus.
A self-motivated, proactive approach with a focus on helping the team succeed.
