Looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and prototype device systems and subsystems. This is a project based position. Roughly 6 months but can be an extended project based on business need. You can start ASAP and this is primarily a remote position with the need to come onsite 1 to 2 times a week. Looking for someone local to the area or can commute to King of Prussia 1 to 2 times a week.
Education: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and prototype device systems and subsystems using CAD, with proficiency in prototyping methods like 3D printing or machining.
Conduct analytical assessments to guide design choices and address device functionality, reliability, safety, cost, and scalability risks.
Manage external suppliers, conduct DFM (Design for Manufacturing) reviews, and attend onsite as needed.
Generate and manage intellectual property (IP) is a plus.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and statistical software like Minitab for data analysis, experiment design, and tolerance calculations.
Skilled in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and basic test fixtures; experience with 2D drawings for components and assemblies preferred.
Familiarity with metrology methods and managing vendors for metrology and test activities.
Experience in precision machined component design for low to mid-volume production in regulated industries (e.g., medical, aerospace, automotive), including DFM and cost reduction.
Competent in producing mechanical and assembly drawings per ASM Y14.5 standards.
Work in final assembly environments, assisting in process development and manufacturing optimization to meet design requirements.
