The Senior Manager, Project Management Office will leverage extensive project management experience to manage and mentor team members, allocate resources, and drive departmental effectiveness and accountability. This leader will facilitate the efficient and effective planning and prioritization of both active and backlog implementation projects. Additionally, they will serve as a key collaboration point between groups - maintaining excellent communication with staff, other departments, and clients. The Senior Manager, PMO will also develop and implement SOPs, systems, tools, best practices, and artifacts that help the PMO effectively drive strategy to streamline and scale MHK’s delivery of services.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and Oversee PMO Strategy: Formulate and implement the overall PMO strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. This includes setting the vision for project management methodologies and data analytics across multiple projects.
Provide Strategic Leadership and Mentorship: Offer high-level thought leadership and mentorship to Project Managers and Project Coordinators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the PMO.
Strategic Project Planning and Management: Oversee the development and management of comprehensive project plans, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and tracking key milestones and deliverables.
Lead and Influence Project Execution: Guide and influence project execution, ensuring successful delivery and adherence to organizational standards and expectations.
Ensure Project Accountability and Success: Hold overall accountability for the successful completion of project deliverables, adhering to PMO standards and methods.
Manage Scope and Change Control: Oversee project scope and changes, ensuring adherence to change control procedures and maintaining critical documentation.
Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Promote collaboration between functional and technical teams to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
Resource Allocation and Management: Collaborate with PMO managers and key leaders to secure and allocate resources effectively for projects.
Risk Management and Escalation: Serve as the primary point of escalation for stakeholders, proactively communicating risks and managing expectations.
Facilitate Strategic Meetings and Activities: Coordinate and facilitate strategic meetings and onsite activities, ensuring effective follow-through.
Strategic Documentation and Reporting: Oversee the documentation and reporting of all project matters in a timely and strategic manner.
Administrative Oversight: Manage resource bookings, time entry, and other administrative tasks to support successful billing and workforce planning.
Adopt and Promote Best Practices: Champion organizational best practices for processes, documentation, and system use across the PMO.
Strategic Account Management: Take responsibility for larger, more complex strategic accounts, ensuring effective management and value delivery.
Additional Duties: Perform other strategic duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success and growth of the PMO and the organization.
Education/Certification Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, related field or commensurate experience - required.
PMI certification (PMP) - preferred
Skills Requirements:
Minimum of 7 years of experience as a project manager in healthcare, healthcare insurance, healthcare consulting, software (SaaS) industry, or relevant technical consulting field – required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in leadership or management - required.
Experience with MS Project for project planning - required.
Prior experience analyzing project data and statistics using business applications - preferred.
Working knowledge of the healthcare industry (Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial) and understanding of related compliance and quality aspects – preferred.
Experienced in project governance, capacity planning, and project budgeting.
Self-starter, with strong sense of ownership, assertive follow-through, and a passion for the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Proficient technical understanding: ability to demonstrate knowledge of software development life cycle, application design, integration, and hosting technologies.
Excellent verbal, organizational, and written skills, effective partnership with technical and non-technical staff as well as all levels of management.
Experience with practical application of Project Management Institute (PMI) global standards.
Demonstrated team-building skills in both onsite and virtual settings.
Ability to motivate teams and efficiently manage a portfolio of projects in line with organizational KPIs or other success metrics.
Additional Requirements:
This position will be hybrid-based and local to Tampa, FL.
Ability to travel to client sites as required (25% or less, as a matter of routine.)
Ability to support clients across all time zones.
