CBP's Office of Human Resources Management is looking for dynamic Data Scientists (GS-14) to join our Washington, DC team! They will serve as expert analysts and advisors to senior management, with a primary function of providing objectively based information derived from the use of advanced scientific, mathematical, and statistical work to support data-driven decision making across HRM. The incumbent is involved in top-level strategizing, planning, forecasting, allocating resources, performance measurement, scheduling, work distribution, and database analysis.
We are looking for Data Scientist professionals with the following skills (please ensure your resume and other supporting documentation reflect you have the following experience): • Creating dashboards and other summaries on analytical and data-related projects; • Applying concepts of data science to process and extract insights from structured and unstructured data; • Preparation of technical reports to communicate statistical methodology and results; • Solving statistical problems that occur in data collection and summarization processes.
About the Role
Key and major work responsibilities include:
Applying advanced data science techniques including data extraction, transformation, cleaning, modeling, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to process and extract insights from structured and unstructured data.
Applying advanced quantitative, computer science, mathematical, and statistical skills to interpret extremely large and unstructured data sets, the results of which will be used for forecasting critical problems and making data-driven decisions regarding the administrative and programmatic aspects of HRM and CBP's operations and management.
Gathering, processing, and converting raw and unstructured data from a variety of systems and databases into clean, organized information.
Overseeing the preparation of reports using machine learning, programming, and data visualization skills, and presenting findings from partner organizations within HRM.
Serving as the primary HRM representative on data science matters in contacts with agencies to participate in planning long-range research and development processes.
Job Location information: This position is open for 'Location Negotiable - Applicant must reside within 50 miles of a CBP Facility' (Our organization is in Washington D.C., but the duty location can be negotiable as long as it's within 50 miles of a CBP Facility within U.S.)
