Forsite Renewables, LLC is a full-service utility scale developer of renewable energy and battery storage projects. Its core strategy has been to locate projects near aging, uneconomic coal and gas plants with the goal of utilizing existing interconnection infrastructure and rights to expedite the development process. Its portfolio is expanding into community and distributed generation solar projects as well as traditional greenfield development projects. About the Role:
Forsite is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join our fast-paced, exciting work environment. Under the direction of the Vice President & General Counsel, you will join a growing legal team and be focused on energy and infrastructure project development and related real estate and commercial transactions. You will provide professional legal advice, counsel and guidance to support the development of Forsite's growing renewable and clean energy portfolio, and will be responsible for a broad spectrum of internal and external legal issues and initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Assist in a wide variety of real estate matters including (a) managing Forsite's lease drafting and negotiation process, (b) preparing and negotiating real estate documents such as easement agreements, SNDAs and estoppels, (c) reviewing title and survey, and (d) coordinating closings by handling real estate deliverables, closing checklists and deadlines.
Prepare, review and negotiate commercial contracts across a wide range of transactions including but not limited to master services agreements, vendor agreements and NDAs, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on contractual matters, risk management, compliance issues and other areas of the Company as needed.
Qualifications:
JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in at least one state in the U.S.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience either as in-house counsel or within a law firm (or a combination thereof) drafting and negotiating leases and other real estate documents.
Strong knowledge of corporate law with experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
Entrepreneurial-minded individual able to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders under minimal supervision.
Exceptional writing, proof-reading and analytical skills.
Ability to analyze, interpret and present complex legal ideas and concepts in a clear and concise fashion.
Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and balance a heavy workload.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with renewable energy development
