One of The Sage Group's top clients is looking for a Sr Maps UI/UX Designer, strong with enterprise level apps. Application is a complex road map program that has continuous feature updates and requires someone technical to understand solve UI/UX problems accordingly. Project Overview:
As a UX Designer for (client name) Maps, you'll deliver design and map visualizations for Geo, the team that included (client name) Maps. This role will be on the team responsible for Geo's map (cartography). Designers on this team work on creating cartographic visualizations that communicate geo-spatial information to users at a global scale.
In this role, you'll learn the map code base and standards and apply updated design thinking to the roads, vegetated areas, and built environment. You'll work closely with a UX Lead to deliver final information architectures, code, and evolved map visualizations for different map journeys and use cases.
You'll partner with Product, Engineering, and other teams to identify and resolve problems, and deliver work on time against regular product deadlines and milestones. You'll also deliver other critical aspects of this design work, including but not limited to experimentation and refinement work.
Role Responsibilities:
As an interaction designer on the map, you'll join a cross functional team and contribute to the overall map visualization. You will work on the design and evolution of core cartographic elements including road priorities and representations.
Evolve the design of cartographic elements with input from designers and engineers.
Evaluate use cases, conduct audits, and deliver design solutions with global audiences in mind and in accordance to our zoom level guidelines and map policies
Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand use cases, and provide creative, thoughtful solutions.
Communicate the design rationale behind the solution at various stages of the process with wireframes, prototypes, and desk research
Required Skills:
7+ years experience working as an interaction designer, visualization designer, or architect, and must present a portfolio that explains the what, when, how and why around the solution
Strong understanding of design theories and principles of typography, layout and information hierarchy
Fluent with design a tools, specifically Figma
Elementary understanding of HTML/CSS or other front end coding languages
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
BA or BS in Design (including graphic design, human-computer interaction, architecture, or a related field - in lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience)
Tactical hands-on design capabilities
Location: Onsite at either San Jose CA, Austin TX, Bothel WA or Farmington Hills Michigan locations
Duration: 1 year to start, plus strong extension potential through 2028
