The Chief of Security reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent of Operations and manages all areas of safety and security, including oversight of such investigations as may be assigned by the Superintendent or his designee. He/she is the principal advisor to the Superintendent of Schools for all matters related to safety and security within the school system.
The Chief of Security is responsible for all activities of a security department of over 100 officers and support personnel. He/she oversees the development and implementation of plans to address security needs across the school system and assesses security strategies and activities at all school system sites. The Chief of Security serves as the primary liaison to law enforcement and all other agencies in matters of school security. He/she is responsible for the proper training and deployment of all school security officers and coordinates such training with the appropriate law enforcement agencies as well as providing professional development and training for principals, teachers, and school employees as pertains to school security.
