Director of Environmental Health and Safety - stationed in Charlotte with local travel
Adecco Permanent Recruitment is hiring for an experienced Director of Environmental Health and Safety for our global manufacturing client.
Summary:
As the EHS Director, you will be responsible for designing and leading the company's safety and environmental health strategy, focusing on global initiatives, sustainability and leading/motivating EHS team. This position requires close collaboration with leadership to implement effective safety standards across facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies, and advancing sustainable practices company-wide.

Role Importance:
Develop and steer the overall EHS vision and goals, fostering a strong, high-performing safety culture.
Guide and collaborate with operations leaders to align facility goals with corporate safety objectives.
Create and oversee EHS programs, ensuring compliance with both internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Lead the safety oversight committee, fostering continuous improvement.
Mentor facility leaders to strengthen their technical and leadership skills in EHS.
Utilize reporting tools to generate actionable insights and ensure compliance.
Manage environmental projects and reporting, including remediation and compliance tracking.
Partner with HR on injury case management and safe return-to-work programs.
Interface with regulatory agencies and manage audits, inspections, and compliance reports.
Investigate and address safety incidents, driving corrective actions and improvements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years in EHS leadership roles across multiple sites, with at least 5 years in manufacturing.
Expertise in ISO/RC 14001 and 45000 standards.
Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
Preferred experience in environmental consulting, specifically in soil and groundwater remediation.
Demonstrated experience in fostering safety-focused cultural change and sustainable practices.
Proven leadership with strong communication skills, able to collaborate effectively across all levels.
Certifications such as CSP, CHMM, or ASP are preferred.
Ability to conduct audits, lead risk assessments, and promote EHS best practices.
Hands-on leadership, with a focus on continuous improvement and the development of safety skills across the team.
