Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Superintendent to join our dynamic team in Washington, DC. As the Lead Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day on-site management of construction projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. You will coordinate all aspects of the construction process, including managing subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams, while maintaining a strong focus on client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in multifamily and commercial construction, a strong understanding of project scheduling and safety protocols, and the leadership skills necessary to motivate and guide a diverse team of professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership:
  • Lead and manage all on-site construction activities for multifamily and commercial projects, ensuring the project is completed according to design, budget, and schedule.
  • Scheduling and Coordination:
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules. Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to ensure timely completion of all phases of construction. Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Team Supervision and Development:
  • Lead a team of superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors. Provide guidance and mentorship to ensure safe and efficient site operations. Foster a collaborative team environment and encourage continuous learning.
  • Quality Control:
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures on-site. Review work for compliance with project plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Ensure all work meets the highest standards of craftsmanship.
  • Safety Management:
  • Maintain a proactive safety culture on the job site by enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations. Regularly inspect the site for potential hazards and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communication:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project status, challenges, and milestones. Address client concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Budget Management:
  • Monitor and track project costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractor services. Ensure that the project stays within budget by identifying and addressing potential cost overruns.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, RFIs (Requests for Information), change orders, and site logs. Report regularly to the project manager regarding project status, issues, and successes.

Qualifications:
  • Education:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction, with at least 5 years in a superintendent or leadership role. Experience with multifamily and commercial projects is required.
  • Certifications:
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (required). First Aid/CPR certification is a plus. LEED accreditation and/or PMP certification is advantageous but not required.
