Position Summary:
The Production Specialist for Soft Goods is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing, assembly, and quality assurance of soft goods products, including textiles, fabrics, and other related materials. This role ensures that all products meet company standards for quality, efficiency, and safety while also contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Operations:
Operate and maintain sewing machines, cutting equipment, and other machinery used in soft goods production.
Assemble and fabricate soft goods according to design specifications and production plans.
Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and quality.
Quality Control:
Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
Identify defects or issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain accurate records of quality checks and production outputs.
Process Improvement:
Collaborate with the production team to identify opportunities for process improvements.
Assist in developing and implementing new production techniques to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Participate in regular training to stay updated on best practices in soft goods manufacturing.
Inventory and Materials Management:
Track inventory levels of raw materials, tools, and equipment.
Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules.
Assist in managing stock levels and order supplies as needed.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations regarding the handling and production of soft goods.
Report any safety hazards or incidents to the Production Manager.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with designers, engineers, and other production staff to achieve production goals.
Communicate effectively with team members to address any production challenges or changes in schedules.
Support training and onboarding of new production staff as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in textiles or manufacturing is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in soft goods production or a similar manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in operating sewing machines, cutting tools, and other relevant production equipment.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control.
Ability to read and interpret design specifications and technical drawings.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Knowledge of safety protocols and experience adhering to production safety standards.
Working Conditions:
Fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and materials used in soft goods production.
Overtime and weekend work may be required during peak production periods.
