Straticon Construction, a leader in constructing high-profile buildings across South Florida-including apartments, condominiums, senior living communities, five-star hotels, and exclusive yacht marina developments-is seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Estimator. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive approach to process improvement.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares weekly bid calendar and ensures timely completion of estimates.
Reviews estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
Reviews construction documents and understands scope of work to bid.
Executes take-offs of construction documents.
Obtains pricing for materials.
Obtains bids from subcontractors and reviews scope of work to analyze subcontractor's quotes for best value.
Manages the subcontractor solicitation process using CMiC bid invitations to subcontractors/vendors and ensure adequate bid coverage for each trade package with a minimum of 3 bids per scope when possible.
Consults with clients, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to discuss and formulate estimates, effective cost reductions, and resolve issues related to the project.
Makes an estimate where predetermined standard(s) are not available.
Informs immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items.
Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
Attends on-site pre-bid/proposal conferences and site visits.
Utilizes the appropriate company and industry historical data for pricing estimates.
Responsible for entire bid process across all divisions of work for a multi-family construction project.
Takes on a new project from start to finish in the bid/estimating process; then once the GMP is finalized, takes the lead on the buy-out process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in Construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or related technical field.
10+ years of experience in estimating with a general contractor.
Very familiar with multi-family construction projects in Florida, including in-depth knowledge of Florida's building code requirements (i.e. CMU construction, stucco).
Strong organizational, supervisory, decision making, and problem-solving skills are essential.
Must be computer literate and receptive to emerging technology and software programs.
Proficient knowledge of pre-construction and its practices
Ability to read, interpret and understand plans proficiently is a requirement.
Ability to read specifications and understand the subject matter.
