Carry out annual reviews, appraisal assessments, and periodic evaluations of loan grades. Oversee the administration of the Credit and Loan policy.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct independent analyses of commercial real estate, commercial loans, residential loans, and consumer loans in alignment with established credit and loan policies.
Underwrite loan requests according to established guidelines.
Produce detailed analyses and comprehensive financial reports to evaluate borrowers' financial statements, cash flows, forecasts, collateral, and other relevant data. Prepare credit summaries for the Loan Committee to assess the quality of proposed loans.
Establish, develop, and expand a formal Credit Department within the Loan Department, including:
Providing credit-related training to lending staff.
Recommending strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the Credit Department.
Participating in Loan Department, Officer, Pipeline, and Classified Asset meetings to advocate for credit quality. Report to the Board on Criticized Assets, Other Real Estate Owned (OREO), and charged-off loans.
Identifying risk asset concentrations, declines in underwriting standards or market conditions, and weaknesses that necessitate corrective action.
Oversee the annual review process, both personally and through outsourcing, to ensure timely completion of all annual reviews and communicate results to loan officers, the Chief Lending Officer, and the Board.
Act as the liaison with third-party vendors conducting real estate appraisals and annual loan reviews.
Perform portfolio-level stress testing to assess the loan portfolio's exposure and quantify the impact of changing economic scenarios on asset quality, earnings, and capital.
Administer the Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) methodology, including quarterly updates on economic and market factors.
Provide general support to the Senior Vice President and Chief Lending Officer on:
Matters related to credit strategy and loan policy.
Maintaining the integrity of loan grading.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an MBA in Accounting/Finance, or equivalent professional experience.
A minimum of five years of experience managing a Credit Analysis Department.
Strong analytical skills with experience in evaluating commercial real estate loans, including owner-occupied, income-producing, and special-purpose properties, as well as commercial and consumer loans. Knowledge of security arrangements and loan collateralization is essential.
Capable of spreading corporate and personal financial statements and tax returns in both US dollars and the borrower's local currency, if applicable.
Skilled in interpreting credit reports.
Knowledge of financial services regulations and compliance, including Know Your Customer, Customer Identification Program, BSA/Anti-Money Laundering, and OFAC.
Familiarity with banking software such as BancPac, Vision, iDoc, and iCheck.
Skilled in using analytical software for spreading corporate financial statements, personal financial statements, and corporate/personal tax returns.
