The A-Shift Production General Manager is responsible for overseeing and training supervisors in various production functions, including production documentation, managing yields, tracking time and attendance, handling disciplinary actions, and motivating the team. This role places strong emphasis on safety, quality, and team member morale, ensuring compliance with workers' compensation protocols and overall production standards. The Production General Manager also manages bid movement and supports team members in adapting to a fast-paced, evolving environment, helping to build a cohesive and communicative team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and train supervisors in production processes, documentation, yield management, and attendance tracking.
Promote safety, problem-solving, and high performance in safety, quality, and team morale.
Address turnover and absenteeism by creating a positive work environment that motivates team members.
Oversee production schedules, product rotation, and CCP verification schedules.
Conduct audits and inspections on the production floor, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Support a strong safety culture and active participation in the safety committee.
Develop and review team members' performance and guide improvements as needed.
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
Processing Knowledge: Familiarity with processing floor operations, with a strong preference for fresh meat processing experience (preferably pork).
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role within a production or manufacturing environment, which can substitute for formal education requirements.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Operations Management or a related field is preferred, but equivalent professional experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Industry Experience: 2 years of experience within a similar industry, ideally at Tyson or equivalent companies.
Special Skills: Experience with HACCP principles, CCP monitoring verification, and fresh meats processing knowledge.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to access all areas of the production floor for audits and inspections, including navigating fixed ladders, stairs, and other vertical spaces.
Tolerance for working in cold environments, with temperatures ranging from 28-45°F.
Skills:
Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with all levels of management.
Effective leadership, problem-solving, and motivational skills to guide team members and handle special projects.
