We are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our corporate finance and accounting team in Columbia, MD. The Financial Analyst is responsible for the coordination, preparation, and analysis of the company-wide monthly projections, annual budget, and additional ad-hoc analyses for senior management. This individual is responsible for delivering monthly financial and operational reports, working jointly with the operational and accounting teams to coordinate the monthly projection process, analyzing new investment opportunities, and preparing monthly / quarterly presentations for senior management.
Job Responsibilities:
Accurately performing account reconciliations
Review of G&A expense at the branch level
Developing reports for senior leadership
Providing customer service to branch offices as needed
Performing analytical review of financial results
Assisting branch operations teams in all areas of day to day financial management
Assist with the review and projection of job costs and cash flow
Assisting in the AR collections process
Reviewing outstanding receivables and following up with project management teams regarding collection status
Assisting in the preparation of the annual budget and the overall analytical review and interpretation of the results
Assisting in the month-end close process, to include posting journal entries and job cost entries
Assisting or leading special projects as required
Provides support to Group Controller and Business Unit personnel during the annual budget preparation process and subsequent updates
Serves as an information resource to Operations related to Business Operations function issues, including analyzing financial data to identify trends and patterns
Meets all scheduled deadlines, for example billings status report, billings cutoff, revenue adjustment cutoff
Collects, interprets and summarizes financial data in order to respond to internal and external customer inquiries
Develops and maintains a good working relationship with both internal and external customers.
Successful candidates who meet the following criteria will be considered for this position:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
3 - 5 years of finance/accounting experience - job costing knowledge a plus
Proven experience with account reconciliations, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, income tax and use tax
Prior experience reviewing and analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports, statements and projections
Ability to function well in a team and autonomous environment
Excellent MS Office skills to include advanced Excel experience
Skilled at multi-tasking with strong organization and attention to detail
Candidates who have experience in accounting roles with a construction company may be given preference
Some travel - up to 25% to start - may be required for this position
