The GL Accountant role is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compliant financial documents. Under the direction of the Senior GL Accountant, responsible for all aspects of full-cycle month-end closing and preparing journal entries to post to the general ledger. Ensures completeness and accuracy of GL statements and related accounting activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Prepare, make, and/or review journal entries pertaining to gaming and non-gaming operations into general ledger system
Prepare, analyze, and distribute scheduled and ad-hoc financial reports related to gaming and non-gaming operations.
Collaborate with other members of the Finance department and with staff members of other departments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of procedures related to financial data maintenance.
Assist with preparation of month-end financial statements, balance sheet account reconciliations, and audit work papers.
Must have excellent organization and time management skills
Attend and participate in meetings in order to be informed of new rules, regulations and procedures and to discuss scheduling and/or other concerns of the Hotel and/or department.
May be required to perform a combination of functions to be determined based upon the particular needs of the Hotel.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Excellent understanding of the accounting process and technical systems involved.
Previous casino experiences a plus.
Ability to determine alternative solutions to problems, evaluate courses of action and reach sound, non-judgmental management decisions.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Must possess interpersonal skills to deal effectively with business contacts and employees at all levels of the company.
Read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and fellow employees.
Possess a strong attention to detail and engaging presentation skills.
Has the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, staff, clients, and general public.
Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure and calculate figures and amounts.
Candidate must have ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and to create and interpret bar graphs.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook; expert in Excel.
Infinium General Ledger experience a plus.
Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors' degree in Accounting or related field required.
Minimum 3 years of experience in finance/accounting required; or any combination of education, training, or experience listed that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
• Exposure to General Ledger Accounting a plus.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES • Must obtain and maintain appropriate licensing with the Nevada Gaming Board.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is constantly sitting, listening, using computer, telephone, and speaking; and occasionally standing, kneeling, walking, reaching, twisting, grasping, and lifting. • Frequently using wrist motion, dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and writing, typing on computer keyboard. • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds
