A reputable Semiconductor Manufacturer is looking to hire a Sr. Patent Counsel to join their IP group. This role will work closely with team members in building and maintaining the company's patent portfolio and provide legal advice on all aspects of intellectual property.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute patent strategies to protect the company's innovations in semiconductor technologies.
Provide legal advice to R&D teams on patentability, freedom to operate, and patent landscape analysis.
Advise on patent portfolio management, including identification, protection, and commercialization of inventions.
Work closely with cross-functional teams (engineering, product development, marketing) to identify new inventions and evaluate patentability.
Track and maintain the company's global patent portfolio, ensuring that patents are in force and aligned with business goals.
Conduct regular patent reviews and audits to assess the value and quality of the patent portfolio.
Advise management on key portfolio decisions, including the potential for divestitures, acquisitions, or strategic alliances.
Educate and train internal teams on IP issues and patent matters.
Build relationships with engineers, product managers, and senior leadership to foster an understanding of intellectual property and its strategic value
Requirements
Degree in electrical engineering.
J.D. from accredited law schools.
4-6 years' experience with a law firm and/or corporation.
Admitted to a State bar.
Admitted to U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
Comprehensive semiconductor and power electronics knowledge.
Experience with preparation and prosecution of US patents; preparation of infringement, validity, and freedom-to-operate opinions; client counseling.
